Frequently Asked Questions
Installation Questions
How long does installation take?
Most residential garage floors complete in one day. Larger or more complex projects may require 1-2 days. Commercial projects vary based on size and scope.
What's the difference between epoxy and polyaspartic coatings?
Epoxy coatings cure slower (24-72 hours) but offer excellent chemical resistance and are more cost-effective. Polyaspartic coatings cure faster (4-24 hours), are UV-stable, and extremely durable but cost more.
Can you install coatings in cold weather?
We can install year-round with proper climate control. Concrete and air temperatures must be between 45°F-95°F. We use heaters and dehumidifiers when needed.
Do you move cars and storage items?
You'll need to remove all items from the area before we arrive. We can help move lighter items if needed, but vehicles and heavy equipment must be moved in advance.
Can you coat over existing paint or sealers?
Existing coatings must be completely removed for proper adhesion. We use diamond grinding to remove all previous treatments and create the proper surface profile.
Curing and Use Questions
When can I walk on my new floor?
- Epoxy systems: 24 hours for foot traffic
- Polyaspartic systems: 4-6 hours for foot traffic
When can I drive on my new floor?
- Epoxy systems: 72 hours for vehicle traffic
- Polyaspartic systems: 24 hours for vehicle traffic
Will hot tires damage the coating?
Our systems are designed to resist hot tire pickup. Quality preparation and proper materials prevent this common problem.
What about tire marks?
Light tire marks from turning wheels are normal and clean off easily. Proper coating selection minimizes this issue.
How long until full cure?
While you can use your floor within hours or days, full chemical cure takes 7-14 days depending on temperature and humidity.
Durability and Maintenance
How long will my coating last?
With proper installation and maintenance, expect 15-20 years or more. We back this with our comprehensive warranty.
What kind of warranty do you provide?
We offer a lifetime satisfaction warranty against hot tire pickup, peeling, and delamination when properly maintained.
Will hot tires damage the coating?
Our systems are designed to resist hot tire pickup. Quality preparation and proper materials prevent this common problem.
How do I maintain my coated floor?
- Regular sweeping and mopping
- Use pH-neutral cleaners only
- Clean spills promptly
- Avoid abrasive cleaners or tools
Are the coatings slippery?
Smooth coatings can be slippery when wet. We offer slip-resistant additives and textures for enhanced safety.
Can the coating be repaired if damaged?
Yes, most damage can be spot-repaired. The extent depends on the type and location of damage.
Design and Options
What colors are available?
We offer dozens of colors in solid, flake, and metallic finishes. Popular options include granite looks, neutral grays, and custom color combinations.
Can I see samples before deciding?
Absolutely! We bring samples to every estimate and can create custom sample boards for large projects.
What's the difference between flake sizes?
- 1/4" flakes: Full granite appearance, maximum hide imperfections
- 1/8" flakes: Quartz appearance, refined look
- 1/16" flakes: Subtle texture, sophisticated finish
Can you match existing colors?
We can often match or complement existing colors in your space. Bring photos or samples to your consultation.
Do you offer custom designs?
Yes! We can create logos, borders, patterns, and custom color combinations for unique projects.
Technical Questions
Will the coating prevent concrete dust?
Yes, coatings completely seal concrete and eliminate dusting issues.
Do you test for moisture problems?
We perform moisture testing on every project. High moisture levels must be addressed before coating application.
What if my concrete has cracks?
We repair cracks as part of our preparation process. Large or structural cracks may require additional treatment.
What about expansion joints?
Expansion joints are typically maintained with flexible sealants that allow movement while maintaining appearance.
Cost and Pricing
How much do coatings cost?
Pricing varies based on size, condition, coating type, and complexity. Most residential garages range from $3-8 per square foot.
Do you offer financing?
Contact us for current financing options and payment plans.
What's included in the price?
Our quotes include all materials, labor, surface preparation, and cleanup. No hidden fees or surprises.
Are there any additional costs?
Major concrete repairs, extensive cleaning, or difficult access may incur additional charges. These are discussed upfront.
Do you provide free estimates?
Yes! All estimates are free with no obligation.
Preparation Questions
How do you prepare the concrete?
We diamond grind the surface, repair cracks and voids, and thoroughly clean to ensure proper adhesion.
Will grinding create a lot of dust?
We use dust collection systems to minimize mess. Some dust is unavoidable, but we protect adjacent areas.
What if my concrete is new?
New concrete should cure for at least 30 days before coating. We may need to etch or grind new concrete for proper adhesion.
Can you remove oil stains?
Most oil stains are removed during preparation. Stubborn stains may require special treatments or primers.
What about concrete imperfections?
Small imperfections are filled and leveled. Flake systems hide most minor flaws naturally.
Safety and Environmental
Are the coatings safe?
Once cured, all our coatings are safe for residential and commercial use. We use low-VOC materials when possible.
What about fumes during installation?
Proper ventilation is maintained during installation. You may detect odors, but they dissipate quickly.
Are pets and children safe around fresh coatings?
Keep pets and children away until the coating is fully cured and odors have dissipated.
Do you have insurance?
Yes, we're fully licensed, bonded, and insured for your protection.
